United Arab Emirates stocks lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.12%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Transport, Services and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.12%, while the ADX General index declined 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR), which rose 3.51% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.561 at the close. Meanwhile, Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) added 3.00% or 0.080 points to end at 2.750 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was up 2.53% or 0.010 points to 0.405 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which fell 1.94% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.860 at the close. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 1.14% or 0.050 points to end at 4.320 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) was down 1.09% or 0.080 points to 7.230.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which rose 11.58% to 2.120, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 6.76% to settle at 0.790 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which gained 2.33% to close at 0.440.

The worst performers were United Arab Bk (AD:UAB) which was down 8.76% to 1.770 in late trade, Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which lost 6.58% to settle at 1.420 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 4.67% to 1.0200 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 20 to 15 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 8 advanced, while 11 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.73% or 0.46 to $63.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $69.12 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.82% or 10.80 to trade at $1324.50 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.49% to 4.4056.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 91.83.
