Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Telecoms and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.49%, while the ADX General index added 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC), which rose 8.86% or 0.280 points to trade at 3.440 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 7.14% or 0.110 points to end at 1.650 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was up 5.04% or 0.025 points to 0.521 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which fell 2.59% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.130 at the close. Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) declined 1.46% or 0.020 points to end at 1.350 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) was down 1.38% or 0.020 points to 1.430.
The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which rose 8.62% to 0.630, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 6.41% to settle at 0.830 and Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which gained 4.73% to close at 3.10.
The worst performers were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 7.60% to 4.50 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which lost 3.33% to settle at 8.70 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 1.83% to 7.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 21 to 7; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 14 rose and 7 declined, while 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.38% or 0.020 to 1.430. Shares in Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.33% or 0.30 to 8.70.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.36% or 0.62 to $46.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.28% or 0.14 to hit $49.19 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.98% or 23.30 to trade at $1152.80 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.32% to 4.0251.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 97.54.
