Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.37% or 71.50 points to trade at 2,191.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.44% or 27.00 points to end at 1,133.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) was up 2.07% or 5.80 points to 285.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which fell 3.03% or 2.58 points to trade at 82.58 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 2.87% or 24.40 points to end at 826.40 and Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) was down 2.63% or 25.00 points to 924.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1099 to 654 and 594 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.44% or 27.00 to 1,133.00. Shares in ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.07% or 5.80 to 285.40.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.95% or 64.16 to $3,359.16 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.51% or 0.31 to hit $61.51 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.31 to trade at $64.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.66% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.69% at 99.17.
