Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which rose 5.56% or 332.00 points to trade at 6,300.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 5.41% or 13.25 points to end at 258.15 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) was up 5.24% or 448.00 points to 9,002.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which fell 8.67% or 127.50 points to trade at 1,343.50 at the close. Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) declined 4.72% or 224.00 points to end at 4,518.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was down 4.09% or 5.95 points to 139.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 933 to 910 and 617 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.65% or 72.80 to $2,676.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $72.06 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $75.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.11% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP fell 0.64% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.60% at 104.98.
