Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Electrical, Industrial Metals & Mining and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SKY PLC (LON:SKYB), which rose 4.10% or 37.00 points to trade at 940.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 2.40% or 7.20 points to end at 307.30 and GKN PLC (LON:GKN) was up 2.20% or 6.50 points to 302.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which fell 4.37% or 36.50 points to trade at 798.00 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 3.98% or 23.00 points to end at 555.50 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was down 2.42% or 52.00 points to 2092.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1086 to 837 and 444 ended unchanged.
Shares in United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.37% or 36.50 to 798.00. Shares in Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.98% or 23.00 to 555.50.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.91% or 11.58 to $1289.78 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.30% or 1.27 to hit $56.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.13% or 1.31 to trade at $62.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.08% to 1.3205, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8930.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 93.62.
