Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Support Services and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 3.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 7.75% or 279.00 points to trade at 3,879.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 7.70% or 18.60 points to end at 260.25 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN) was up 7.27% or 114.00 points to 1,683.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which fell 6.15% or 20.60 points to trade at 314.60 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 2.97% or 7.00 points to end at 228.80 and Aviva PLC (LON:AV) was down 0.78% or 3.90 points to 496.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1646 to 298 and 427 ended unchanged.
Shares in J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.97% or 7.00 to 228.80.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.13% or 96.31 to $3,175.71 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.67% or 2.91 to hit $59.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 4.17% or 2.73 to trade at $62.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.88% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP rose 1.29% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.80% at 100.78.
