Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Banking and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.81%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which rose 3.93% or 19.80 points to trade at 523.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) added 3.92% or 2.76 points to end at 73.20 and Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP) was up 3.73% or 130.00 points to 3,618.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which fell 1.95% or 14.00 points to trade at 703.00 at the close. InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) declined 1.84% or 136.00 points to end at 7,274.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) was down 1.53% or 42.00 points to 2,698.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1410 to 443 and 625 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 3.05 to $2,434.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.24% or 2.37 to hit $75.57 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.80% or 2.14 to trade at $78.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 103.00.
