Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Automobiles & Parts and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 3.19% or 3.30 points to trade at 106.90 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 3.05% or 5.40 points to end at 182.50 and St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) was up 2.78% or 25.40 points to 940.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 1.13% or 7.60 points to trade at 663.60 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 1.01% or 14.50 points to end at 1415.50 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was down 0.98% or 17.40 points to 1755.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1417 to 723 and 185 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.53% or 8.05 to $1523.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.37% or 0.20 to hit $54.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.30 to trade at $58.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.56% to 1.2151, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.9127.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 98.053.
