Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Construction & Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 5.19% or 41.00 points to trade at 830.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 4.22% or 49.00 points to end at 1211.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 3.87% or 7.20 points to 193.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which fell 1.14% or 17.00 points to trade at 1480.00 at the close. Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) declined 0.72% or 6.00 points to end at 827.50 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 0.48% or 35.00 points to 7315.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1295 to 655 and 451 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.92 to $1286.78 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $51.48 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.33 to trade at $56.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.36% to 1.3394, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.01.
