Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, General Retailers and Electrical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Howden Joinery Group Plc (LON:HWDN), which rose 4.60% or 34.00 points to trade at 773.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Entain PLC (LON:ENT) added 3.28% or 20.60 points to end at 648.80 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) was up 2.92% or 49.00 points to 1,729.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which fell 9.16% or 205.00 points to trade at 2,034.00 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 2.43% or 8.80 points to end at 353.20 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was down 2.37% or 97.00 points to 3,993.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1064 to 718 and 583 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.66% or 22.26 to $3,325.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.14% or 1.33 to hit $60.72 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.04% or 1.32 to trade at $63.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 98.88.
