Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Electrical and Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which rose 5.82% or 58.00 points to trade at 1,054.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 3.89% or 146.00 points to end at 3,900.00 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) was up 3.60% or 51.50 points to 1,483.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which fell 7.39% or 19.50 points to trade at 244.40 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 4.63% or 98.50 points to end at 2,029.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was down 3.60% or 61.00 points to 1,633.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 984 to 749 and 636 ended unchanged.
Shares in Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) rose to all time highs; rising 3.89% or 146.00 to 3,900.00.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.42% or 14.16 to $3,319.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.23% or 1.95 to hit $58.47 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.16% or 2.00 to trade at $61.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.47% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 99.28.
