Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Forestry & Paper and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 3.55% or 7.50 points to trade at 218.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) added 3.12% or 32.00 points to end at 1059.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.95% or 17.50 points to 610.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML), which fell 7.51% or 16.30 points to trade at 200.60 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 6.19% or 47.00 points to end at 712.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 3.41% or 43.00 points to 1219.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1107 to 903 and 414 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1244.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $50.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.17 to trade at $53.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.49% to 1.2530, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8536.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 100.20.
