Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 5.59% or 76.00 points to trade at 1436.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.88% or 36.50 points to end at 784.50 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 4.32% or 23.50 points to 568.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which fell 3.17% or 10.85 points to trade at 331.60 at the close. Standard Life PLC (LON:SL) declined 2.24% or 8.50 points to end at 371.50 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was down 1.53% or 7.20 points to 463.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1047 to 873 and 475 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.15% or 1.75 to $1203.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $48.40 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $51.40 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.2228, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.8719.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 101.18.
