Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 4.69% or 77.00 points to trade at 1718.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 3.88% or 7.50 points to end at 200.90 and Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL) was up 1.97% or 10.00 points to 516.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb), which fell 3.98% or 89.50 points to trade at 2161.00 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LON:RDSa) declined 3.50% or 76.50 points to end at 2108.50 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 2.61% or 195.00 points to 7275.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1451 to 544 and 388 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL) rose to all time highs; up 1.97% or 10.00 to 516.50.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.30% or 3.83 to $1254.87 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.77% or 0.38 to hit $49.45 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.38 to trade at $52.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.25% to 1.3003, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8559.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.49.
