Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Support Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SABMiller PLC (LON:SAB), which rose 1.59% or 67.00 points to trade at 4286.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) added 1.47% or 3.400 points to end at 235.000 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 1.30% or 2.9500 points to 229.7500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which fell 4.62% or 86.00 points to trade at 1774.00 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 4.01% or 34.00 points to end at 814.50 and G4S PLC (LON:GFS) was down 3.62% or 7.10 points to 189.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1189 to 875 and 470 ended unchanged.
Shares in SABMiller PLC (LON:SAB) rose to all time highs; rising 1.59% or 67.00 to 4286.00.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.74% or 9.10 to $1235.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.06% or 1.27 to hit $40.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.65% or 1.16 to trade at $42.68 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.49% to 1.4224, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7944.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 94.59.
