Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Mobile Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 4.23% or 43.00 points to trade at 1060.00 at the close. Meanwhile, British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 2.25% or 14.00 points to end at 636.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 2.14% or 45.00 points to 2145.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which fell 6.67% or 45.50 points to trade at 637.00 at the close. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) declined 2.83% or 15.00 points to end at 514.50 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was down 2.33% or 200.00 points to 8385.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 996 to 980 and 456 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.41% or 5.15 to $1253.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.06% or 0.54 to hit $51.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.51 to trade at $54.87 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.02% to 1.2481, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8536.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 100.54.
