Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Travel & Leisure and Software & Computer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML), which rose 2.28% or 4.50 points to trade at 201.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 1.07% or 8.00 points to end at 753.00 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 0.93% or 3.40 points to 371.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which fell 3.54% or 28.50 points to trade at 776.50 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.24% or 45.00 points to end at 1344.00 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) was down 2.67% or 19.50 points to 709.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1180 to 614 and 436 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.57 to $1281.77 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.03% or 0.49 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.26% or 0.63 to trade at $49.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8710.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.80.
