Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electrical, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which rose 4.76% or 171.00 points to trade at 3765.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) added 3.19% or 46.00 points to end at 1487.00 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) was up 1.31% or 3.40 points to 263.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which fell 5.86% or 515.00 points to trade at 8270.00 at the close. Standard Life PLC (LON:SL) declined 3.77% or 15.10 points to end at 384.90 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) was down 2.93% or 10.20 points to 338.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1036 to 932 and 415 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.53% or 6.45 to $1219.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.24% or 0.13 to hit $53.33 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $56.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.2207, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8670.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.68.
