Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Worldpay Group PLC (LON:WPG), which rose 4.84% or 13.20 points to trade at 285.70 at the close. Meanwhile, 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 2.55% or 18.00 points to end at 723.50 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 2.31% or 5.25 points to 232.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which fell 2.30% or 165.00 points to trade at 7000.00 at the close. Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN) declined 2.12% or 5.40 points to end at 248.80 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 1.83% or 22.50 points to 1204.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 982 to 942 and 436 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.61% or 7.45 to $1208.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.50% or 1.86 to hit $51.28 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.27% or 1.83 to trade at $54.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.2145, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8677.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 102.17.
