Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mobile Telecommunications and Food Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 5.92% or 77.50 points to trade at 1386.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.37% or 34.50 points to end at 824.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 4.04% or 140.500 points to 3615.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which fell 20.80% or 79.550 points to trade at 303.000 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 8.83% or 95.000 points to end at 981.000 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was down 6.28% or 21.10 points to 315.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1040 to 885 and 436 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was down 0.26% or 3.15 to $1212.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.38% or 0.73 to hit $53.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.87% or 0.48 to trade at $55.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.01% to 1.2531, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8581.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.06.
