Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Financial Services and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.20% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG), which rose 3.11% or 99.00 points to trade at 3279.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) added 3.11% or 48.00 points to end at 1592.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 2.87% or 27.80 points to 995.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which fell 1.82% or 3.40 points to trade at 183.80 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) declined 1.54% or 5.10 points to end at 326.00 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was down 1.01% or 3.950 points to 385.100.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1295 to 572 and 443 ended unchanged.
Shares in Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.87% or 27.80 to 995.40.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 3.15 to $1313.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.64% or 0.31 to hit $48.55 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.43 to trade at $50.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.08% to 1.2838, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.8732.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 95.66.
