Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and General Industrial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.60% or 60.00 points to trade at 1725.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 3.51% or 28.00 points to end at 825.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.79% or 21.20 points to 780.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Berkeley Group Hldgs (LON:BKGH), which fell 3.56% or 114.00 points to trade at 3093.00 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 3.27% or 6.00 points to end at 177.50 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) was down 2.99% or 48.00 points to 1557.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1029 to 1022 and 349 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.65% or 8.37 to $1271.13 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.83% or 0.38 to hit $46.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.48 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.74% to 1.2728, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.8795.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 97.27.
