Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Life Insurance/Assurance and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which rose 3.39% or 7.50 points to trade at 228.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) added 3.09% or 48.00 points to end at 1600.50 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was up 3.07% or 23.50 points to 788.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which fell 4.77% or 15.50 points to trade at 309.50 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 3.54% or 124.500 points to end at 3390.500 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 3.30% or 45.50 points to 1332.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1261 to 647 and 431 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.14% or 1.75 to $1221.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.37% or 0.20 to hit $53.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.26 to trade at $56.82 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.2515, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8619.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 99.61.
