Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Software & Computer Services and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which rose 2.68% or 18.00 points to trade at 690.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) added 2.44% or 14.50 points to end at 609.50 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 2.35% or 56.00 points to 2442.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which fell 2.75% or 11.30 points to trade at 399.80 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.24% or 31.00 points to end at 1353.00 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was down 2.06% or 160.00 points to 7610.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1156 to 717 and 481 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.63 to $1240.27 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.36% or 0.63 to hit $47.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.68 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.3033, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8837.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 94.58.
