Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Household Goods & Home Construction and Software & Computer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.40% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 4.71% or 15.40 points to trade at 342.00 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.31% or 43.00 points to end at 1344.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 2.81% or 32.00 points to 1173.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which fell 7.02% or 25.20 points to trade at 334.00 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 6.44% or 56.00 points to end at 813.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 1.45% or 105.00 points to 7135.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1053 to 877 and 475 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.34% or 4.24 to $1251.26 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.30 to hit $51.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.29 to trade at $53.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.2939, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8639.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 97.31.
