Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.26% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.22% or 33.50 points to trade at 1074.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.16% or 9.00 points to end at 294.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.86% or 21.30 points to 766.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which fell 4.79% or 57.00 points to trade at 1133.00 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) declined 1.86% or 81.00 points to end at 4264.00 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) was down 1.66% or 5.90 points to 350.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1049 to 919 and 457 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.29% or 3.56 to $1231.26 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.80% or 1.34 to hit $49.18 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.52% or 1.28 to trade at $52.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.18% to 1.2912, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8501.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 98.78.
