Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Forestry & Paper and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 4.84% or 350.00 points to trade at 7580.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.36% or 69.00 points to end at 1652.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.08% or 22.00 points to 1078.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which fell 1.88% or 4.50 points to trade at 234.50 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 1.39% or 27.00 points to end at 1919.00 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was down 1.36% or 10.00 points to 726.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1012 to 1000 and 453 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.52% or 19.05 to $1272.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.28% or 0.15 to hit $52.93 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.28 to trade at $55.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.53% to 1.2481, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8505.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 100.62.
