Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SKY PLC (LON:SKYB), which rose 3.89% or 29.50 points to trade at 787.00 at the close. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) added 2.17% or 91.50 points to end at 4301.50 and Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) was up 1.70% or 53.00 points to 3173.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Standard Life PLC (LON:SL), which fell 2.21% or 7.800 points to trade at 345.800 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 1.84% or 5.30 points to end at 283.30 and DCC (LON:DCC) was down 1.61% or 100.0 points to 6100.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1154 to 1080 and 459 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.82% or 9.75 to $1179.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.34% or 1.60 to hit $46.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.18% or 1.56 to trade at $47.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.2450, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8508.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 101.54.
