Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Chemicals and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 3.42% or 63.00 points to trade at 1905.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 2.19% or 6.70 points to end at 312.20 and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) was up 1.65% or 4.10 points to 253.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which fell 7.13% or 307.00 points to trade at 4000.00 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) declined 3.20% or 10.80 points to end at 326.40 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 2.65% or 185.00 points to 6785.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1126 to 801 and 457 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.99% or 12.71 to $1264.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.30% or 0.15 to hit $49.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $52.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.2837, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.8522.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 98.66.
