Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Aerospace & Defense and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB), which rose 7.12% or 63.00 points to trade at 948.00 at the close. Meanwhile, GKN PLC (LON:GKN) added 4.93% or 16.90 points to end at 359.90 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 3.66% or 61.000 points to 1726.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which fell 3.03% or 33.00 points to trade at 1055.00 at the close. BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) declined 2.11% or 28.00 points to end at 1297.50 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 1.57% or 120.00 points to 7510.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1017 to 978 and 381 ended unchanged.
Shares in GKN PLC (LON:GKN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.93% or 16.90 to 359.90. Shares in Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.66% or 61.000 to 1726.000.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.16% or 2.00 to $1256.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.42% or 0.77 to hit $53.28 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 0.69 to trade at $55.73 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.10% to 1.2428, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8545.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 100.89.
