Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML), which rose 3.64% or 7.00 points to trade at 199.20 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.58% or 36.000 points to end at 1043.000 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 2.58% or 45.00 points to 1792.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which fell 3.49% or 78.00 points to trade at 2157.00 at the close. Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) declined 2.20% or 4.50 points to end at 200.40 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was down 1.98% or 13.50 points to 670.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1088 to 869 and 430 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.99% or 11.15 to $1140.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.79% or 0.91 to hit $51.81 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.04% or 1.10 to trade at $55.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.53% to 1.2482, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8380.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 102.73.
