(Reuters) - Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) suspended several accounts this week that were set up to share statements from a new part of former U.S. President Donald Trump's website, saying they broke its rules against evading an account ban.

Trump was banned from Twitter, where he had more than 88 million followers, and multiple other social media platforms following the deadly Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.

On Tuesday, a page was added to Trump's site, dubbed "From the Desk of Donald J. Trump," where he posts messages that can be shared by his audience to both Twitter and Facebook.

"As stated in our ban evasion policy, we'll take enforcement action on accounts whose apparent intent is to replace or promote content affiliated with a suspended account," a Twitter spokesman said in a statement.

A Trump representative said they had nothing to do with the suspended accounts, which included @DJTDesk, @DJTrumpDesk, @DeskofDJT and @DeskOfTrump1.

Twitter, which has said that its ban on Trump is permanent even if he runs for office again, has said users can share content from the Trump page as long as it does not fall foul of its ban evasion rules.

On Wednesday, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)'s oversight board upheld Facebook's suspension of Trump but said the company should not have made it indefinite. The board gave Facebook six months to decide a proportionate response.

Trump plans to launch his own social media platform, an adviser has said.

Twitter is a bore. Its just a collection of ppl with multiple accounts and some who buy "followers " ie Ray Rice.. I had a sports account that exposed the NFL and 34k following in 2.5 months. Twitter warned me to stop showing (2019)NFL stadiums during Sundays games, live, with stadiums 2/3 full. NFL lies more than Joe Biden. They had ESPN reporting 100% capacity on Game Summary. I had ppl planted in NFL stadiums with live iPhone pictures. F Twitter and Roger Goodell
Someone has to stop the spread of these lies. I get it, you all believe and that means you think this is censorship. Trump loves to lie, people have lost their lives because of it. Someone has to stop this and private companies could be held liable if they allow lies that cause damages. Twitter is not the government, neither is Facebook they are private companies and they have rules you have to abide by.
Seriously Water Bender? Trump (who is no longer the president by the way) lies constantly. The list is far too long to even begin on here. But one of his most obvious and harmful lies is that he somehow "won" the 2020 election and that there was "widespread voter fraud".
 Something is wrong with you.
 LOL
it is high time to boycot twitter and facebook.. amazing to me how the left is implementing and advocating censorship.. so sad to observe..
Hell yeah, cancel culture at its finest!!!!
You Chris are a hypocrite.
Please explain how capitalist corporations are "the left", Klaus. And enforcing your own website or app's Terms of Service is not "censorship". If the government was silencing you then you would have a point. But these are private companies that nobody is forced to use. They can make their own rules for their own intellectual property and you are entitled to choose not to use it.
I personally do not care about democrats or republicans - I am an independent, sometimes vote D sometimes R, and sometimes neither -  but seeing big corporations and the government colluding to craft narratives and silence political opponents is perhaps the most concerning thing our nation has encountered in recent history. I would never support any company or political entity that supports this behavior.
Charles, you seem to have convinced yourself of something that doesn't even exist. What on Earth makes you think that Twitter and the government "colluded"? What nonsense! Did you forget already that the Trump Administration was the government when he got banned? haha. Seriously, you guys really love your baseless conspiracy theories, don't you.
At this point, they are just helping Trump gain support for another run in 2024 and establish competing platforms. By engaging in such overt disgusting censorship out in the open, it has opened a lot of eyes to what is happening. MSM propaganda like Reuters pushes out headlines like this thinking it is hurting Trump, when really moves like this is what helped gain Trump a lot of support and why he won in 2016. The only people who support this are already DNC sheep. Moderates and independents know this is dangerous and move to alternative platforms and support alternative political parties.
I was a Republican before Trump. I do not recognize the party anymore. Not even sure what the platform is anymore. Seems like hate, fear, and then more hate.
sure you were
I honestly leaned Rep but voted mostly third party as I really wanted to see them hit the 5% and get federal funds. I think we need a third party. I never voted for a Democrat for President before Trump.
On the plus side, by engaging in such overt disgusting censorship out in the open, it has opened a lot of eyes to what is happening. MSM propa.ganda like reueters pushes out headlines like this thinking it is hurting Trump, when really moves like this is what helped gain Trump a lot of support. The only people who support this are already DNC she.ep. Moderates and independents know this is dangerous and move to alternative platforms and support alternative political parties.
It's really laughable that you think Reuters is somehow trying to design their headlines to "hurt Trump". They're simply reporting news. Why would they waste any time on such things? It's just that snowflake Trump supporters take every bit of news about him as if it's a personal attack, even when someone is simply reporting on what actually happened.
Leftists/democrats know that they cannot win arguments and elections using facts and logic, so they have to resort to tactics like this. Anybody who supports this type of overt politically-motived censorship is complicit in tyranny. There is a reason that censorship throughout human history is almost exclusively associated with the most malicious and unhuman regimes in history. Left or right, silencing your opponents through censorship is a sign of weakness, not strength.
*inhuman
I actually looked up the RNC platform for 2020. Which they didn't bother with even doing, just said use the 2016 ******* I read most of it. I no longer recognize the party nor do I know what it stands for. Fiscally conservative? Not anymore! Trump is just reality TV for small minds.
Nice speech Edward, except you're confusing the Democrats with a private corporation. Trump's ban from Twitter had nothing to do with censorship or politics and everything to do with breaking the terms of service that everybody has to follow if they open an account. It's that simple. Not sure why people like you have to make everything about politics or "leftists". There is nothing leftist about Twitter. It's an example of capitalism, not socialism.
if this is not fascism I don't know what is
Awesome, the first fascist company!
There is nothing "fascist" about a private corporation banning somebody from using their services when that person clearly and repeatedly broke their rules. Twitter is not the government. They have a right to set their own terms of service and enforce their rules. Nobody is forced to use Twitter and it's not an essential service.
