Investing.com – Turkey stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Metals, Textile & Leather and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL), which rose 6.64% or 0.330 points to trade at 5.300 at the close. Meanwhile, Konya Cimento (IS:KONYA) added 4.49% or 12.00 points to end at 279.00 and Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE) was up 4.12% or 0.500 points to 12.640 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Odas Elektrik (IS:ODAS), which fell 3.04% or 0.250 points to trade at 7.970 at the close. Celebi (IS:CLEBI) declined 2.54% or 0.58 points to end at 22.24 and KOC Holding (IS:KCHOL) was down 2.17% or 0.29 points to 13.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 167 to 160 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.64% or 0.330 to 5.300.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.50% or 5.95 to $1179.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.50% or 1.27 to hit $52.09 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.65% or 1.42 to trade at $55.06 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 3.12% to 3.9098, while EUR/TRY rose 2.29% to 4.0921.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 102.85.
