- Pres. Trump said today he has seen the latest climate report released last Friday by his administration but that he does not believe the central finding that global climate change could cost the U.S. economy hundreds of billions of dollars a year by the end of the century if no changes are made.
- The National Climate Assessment, prepared by 13 federal agencies and required by Congress, concludes that "evidence of human-caused climate change is overwhelming and continues to strengthen, that the impacts of climate change are intensifying across the country, and that climate-related threats to Americans’ physical, social and economic well-being are rising."
- The report claims no sector of the U.S. economy will be unaffected, projecting in a worst-case scenario that labor-related losses caused by extreme heat could total $155B/year by 2090, while coastal property damage from sea level rise could reach $118B.
