Investing.com - Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk said it was time to "break up" Amazon after the e-commerce giant refused to sell former New York Times (NYSE:NYT) reporter Alex Berenson's book on the coronavirus pandemic.

Berenson's book, "Unreported Truths about Covid-19 and Lockdowns: Part 1: Introduction and Death Counts and Estimates," which questions the overarching coronavirus narrative, failed to comply with its guidelines, Amazon said.

In a tweet calling for the break up of Amazon, Musk said monopolies are "wrong."

Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) was largely flat on the day. Tesla fell 1.3%.

People are smart, need to see all kinds and sources of information, and they will sort out the facts. Censorship is always done by "someone" who thinks he or she knows more than anyone else, which often is simply bias. Censorship is completely wrong. "Narratives" created by media news outlets is completely wrong. "Narratives" are simply an assembly of statements to create an impression or image. The public doesn't need these constructs. All we need is independent reporting of disparate facts, unencumbered by comments or opinions, from different sources. We can figure it out. "Narratives," simply because they are created and assemble by someone, always contain bias. Toss this lot of "information providers" in the garbage. We are better off without all of them.

Hardly think this is an exercise of monopolistic power. Lol. The publisher has a plethora of publishing opportunities in this age of social media and will be delighted to Amazon and Musk for the free publicity! What I will say is that people rushing to get books out are very likely seeking to take advantage of the climate of anger, fear, concerns and culture wars. The true facts and verdict on Covid 19 will established years from now, not in the midst of the pandemic.  We are only at the end of Chapter 1 of this book!

As soon as the narrative is different from the libs even if it's true, they shut it down. Freedom of speech only applies one way. Disgusting what this country has become.

Why is it that anything contrary to the liberal... socialist... globalist point of view, covid, is systematic being censored. Facebook, YouTube, Google and Amazon all have an agenda that will not be good for us, me, and you. Wake up people, you're being played.

You are not 100% capitalist anymore Michael. Anyone that does not like their job at Amazon is free to go find another employer, or start a business of their own. No need for a union.

unions are just trusts of suppliers. they probably are not necessary for negotiating with proprietorships or negotiating with government bureaucrats who pay with taxpayer money but much more appropriate for dealing with corporations

I dont know what exactly you mean by capitalist but assuming your for a free market system it is interesting to note that corporations didnt start until shortly after the death of Adam Smith. and another point that is timely. legislation is in the works to allow police to be sued. effectively removing their limited liability status, thereby making them responsible for their actions.

Ok.. For those that can't read.. Amazon SELLS books. This has nothing to do with publishing. And the freedom you keep whining about means Amazon doesn't have to sell it if they don't want to.

false amazon offers publishing services for authors to publish books on an "on order" basis. it's a way to circumvent the big publishers, and allow for the common dude to write something that can be purchased by the next common dude. you can also have them make you an album for your newest hit song. I believe it's called books on demand and cd on demand. you should fact check your nonsense before you try to ***on everybody.
