Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Machinery and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.44% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco (TW:3532), which rose 6.71% or 2.60 points to trade at 41.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Carry (TW:3054) added 6.65% or 1.35 points to end at 21.65 and I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) was up 6.59% or 0.60 points to 9.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:8464), which fell 8.79% or 32.00 points to trade at 332.00 at the close. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) declined 8.37% or 2.10 points to end at 23.00 and Ennoconn (TW:6414) was down 8.32% or 40.50 points to 446.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 732 to 84 and 47 ended unchanged.
Shares in Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.71% or 2.60 to 41.35.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.77% or 0.36 to $46.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.64% or 0.31 to hit $47.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.45% or 5.85 to trade at $1293.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 31.591, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2152.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.66.
