Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Other Electronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.00% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Nishoku (TW:3679), which rose 9.87% or 4.85 points to trade at 54.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Apacer (TW:8271) added 7.71% or 1.65 points to end at 23.05 and Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) was up 6.31% or 3.80 points to 64.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.78% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.03 at the close. G-Tech (TW:3149) declined 9.72% or 0.91 points to end at 8.45 and Unimicron Tech (TW:3037) was down 9.71% or 1.50 points to 13.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 592 to 187 and 72 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nishoku (TW:3679) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.87% or 4.85 to 54.00. Shares in G-Tech (TW:3149) fell to 3-years lows; down 9.72% or 0.91 to 8.45.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.98% or 0.44 to $45.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.96% or 0.44 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.25 to trade at $1297.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.26% to 32.195, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2022.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 92.28.
