Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Crowell (TW:2528), which rose 10.00% or 0.88 points to trade at 9.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Hitron Tech (TW:2419) added 9.98% or 2.05 points to end at 22.60 and Genius (TW:3406) was up 9.92% or 23.50 points to 260.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chia Chang (TW:4942), which fell 5.42% or 1.50 points to trade at 26.20 at the close. New Asia Const (TW:2516) declined 5.34% or 0.46 points to end at 8.15 and Chia Her Industrial (TW:1449) was down 5.08% or 0.27 points to 5.05.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 470 to 311 and 97 ended unchanged.
Shares in Crowell (TW:2528) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.00% or 0.88 to 9.68. Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.92% or 23.50 to 260.50.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.73% or 0.35 to $47.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $50.65 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.12% or 1.45 to trade at $1247.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 30.490, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2265.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 99.50.
