Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Cement sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lite-On Semi (TW:5305), which rose 9.94% or 2.60 points to trade at 28.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Chia Her Industrial (TW:1449) added 9.86% or 0.41 points to end at 4.57 and Adlink Tech (TW:6166) was up 9.79% or 6.40 points to 71.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456), which fell 7.44% or 1.15 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 6.23% or 1.20 points to end at 18.05 and Evertex (TW:1470) was down 4.62% or 0.90 points to 18.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 450 to 307 and 117 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lite-On Semi (TW:5305) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.94% or 2.60 to 28.75.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.96% or 0.49 to $51.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.02% or 0.55 to hit $54.47 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.90% or 10.85 to trade at $1201.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.04% to 31.607, while TWD/CNY rose 0.51% to 0.2168.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 101.22.
