Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which rose 9.98% or 0.630 points to trade at 6.940 at the close. Meanwhile, China Tv (TW:9928) added 9.89% or 0.47 points to end at 5.22 and China Petroche (TW:1314) was up 7.67% or 0.59 points to 8.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hanpin (TW:2488), which fell 8.98% or 4.60 points to trade at 46.60 at the close. Chuwa Wool (TW:1439) declined 8.79% or 1.70 points to end at 17.65 and Chinese Mariti (TW:2612) was down 6.09% or 1.70 points to 26.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 500 to 254 and 96 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $50.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $52.49 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.09% or 1.15 to trade at $1254.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.20% to 31.462, while TWD/CNY fell 0.28% to 0.2105.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 97.01.
