Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inventec Corp (TW:2356), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Waffer Tech (TW:6235) added 9.97% or 0.71 points to end at 7.83 and Phytohealth (TW:4108) was up 9.94% or 1.60 points to 17.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539), which fell 10.00% or 3.75 points to trade at 33.75 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 8.55% or 1.00 points to end at 10.70 and Aoc (TW:6289) was down 7.77% or 0.08 points to 0.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 432 to 407 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.55% or 1.00 to 10.70.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.67% or 0.31 to $45.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.70% or 0.34 to hit $49.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1122.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.35% to 32.715, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1955.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 96.28.
