Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Computers & Peripherals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.16% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Emerging Displ (TW:3038), which rose 9.94% or 0.64 points to trade at 7.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Via Tech (TW:2388) added 9.86% or 0.55 points to end at 6.13 and Mag Tech (TW:2358) was up 6.98% or 0.60 points to 9.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452), which fell 10.00% or 3.20 points to trade at 28.80 at the close. Twn Taffeta Fa (TW:1454) declined 10.00% or 1.06 points to end at 9.54 and Logah (TW:3593) was down 10.00% or 0.90 points to 8.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 627 to 217 and 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Logah (TW:3593) fell to 3-years lows; falling 10.00% or 0.90 to 8.10.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.03% or 0.47 to $45.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.67% or 0.33 to hit $49.85 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.17% or 1.80 to trade at $1087.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 31.630, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1959.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.52.
