Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.54%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438), which rose 9.99% or 0.690 points to trade at 7.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) added 9.99% or 8.00 points to end at 88.10 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) was up 9.96% or 0.77 points to 8.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eastech Holding Limited (TW:5225), which fell 8.64% or 2.60 points to trade at 27.50 at the close. Silergy Corp (TW:6415) declined 6.54% or 35.00 points to end at 500.00 and BizLink Holding Inc (TW:3665) was down 6.37% or 13.50 points to 198.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 413 to 387 and 106 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.02% or 0.54 to $53.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.01% or 0.62 to hit $62.31 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.60 to trade at $1243.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 30.645, while TWD/CNY fell 0.36% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 96.657.
