Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Semiconductor and Iron & Steel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 3.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wistron Corp (TW:3231), which rose 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Airtac (TW:1590) added 10.00% or 13.50 points to end at 148.50 and Chang Type (TW:1541) was up 9.98% or 2.30 points to 25.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424), which fell 9.86% or 2.75 points to trade at 25.15 at the close. Asmedia (TW:5269) declined 9.83% or 11.50 points to end at 105.50 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was down 9.83% or 2.25 points to 20.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 590 to 254.

Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.11% or 0.42 to $38.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.66% or 0.28 to hit $42.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.55% or 6.30 to trade at $1147.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.81% to 32.685, while TWD/CNY fell 0.36% to 0.1956.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 93.67.
