Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiflex Scientific Co Ltd (TW:8039), which rose 10.00% or 4.05 points to trade at 44.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Foxsemicon Integrated Technology Inc (TW:3413) added 9.98% or 20.00 points to end at 220.50 and Pan-International Industrial Corp (TW:2328) was up 9.87% or 2.70 points to 30.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Microelectronics Corporation (TW:2303), which fell 7.47% or 1.15 points to trade at 14.25 at the close. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 3.58% or 1.20 points to end at 32.35 and Novatek Microelectronics Corp (TW:3034) was down 3.29% or 4.00 points to 117.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 488 to 247 and 142 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.18% or 0.09 to $48.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $50.87 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 1.08% or 13.53 to trade at $1262.93 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 30.172, while TWD/CNY fell 0.27% to 0.2237.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 93.26.
