Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Hotels and Biotech & Medical Care sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Flexium (TW:6269), which rose 10.00% or 12.50 points to trade at 137.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tidehold Devl (TW:9902) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and E-Lead Elec (TW:2497) was up 9.91% or 5.40 points to 59.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zero One Tech (TW:3029), which fell 4.49% or 1.25 points to trade at 26.60 at the close. Mhc (TW:3706) declined 4.37% or 1.45 points to end at 31.70 and Fgh (TW:2712) was down 4.31% or 1.10 points to 24.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 631 to 206 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Flexium (TW:6269) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.00% or 12.50 to 137.50.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.50% or 0.90 to $58.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.27% or 0.81 to hit $62.78 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1173.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.50% to 30.910, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.1999.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.82.
