Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Information Services and Auto sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Avc (TW:3017), which rose 10.00% or 1.95 points to trade at 21.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Generalplus (TW:4952) added 9.95% or 2.85 points to end at 31.50 and Giantplus (TW:8105) was up 9.89% or 0.63 points to 7.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Li Cheng (TW:4426), which fell 9.96% or 12.00 points to trade at 108.50 at the close. Walton Chainte (TW:2425) declined 9.77% or 1.30 points to end at 12.00 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) was down 9.40% or 0.47 points to 4.53.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 679 to 163 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Walton Chainte (TW:2425) fell to 3-years lows; down 9.77% or 1.30 to 12.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.19% or 0.55 to $46.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.29% or 0.65 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 4.10 to trade at $1086.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 31.648, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.1947.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 98.22.
