Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Rubber, Communication and Internet and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ares Int'L (TW:2471), which rose 10.00% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Via Tech (TW:2388) added 9.95% or 1.00 points to end at 11.05 and Htc Corp (TW:2498) was up 9.93% or 7.60 points to 84.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hitron Tech (TW:2419), which fell 9.95% or 2.10 points to trade at 19.00 at the close. Favite (TW:3535) declined 9.84% or 1.50 points to end at 13.75 and Candmark (TW:5259) was down 9.82% or 0.38 points to 3.49.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 435 to 316 and 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in Via Tech (TW:2388) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.95% or 1.00 to 11.05. Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; falling 9.82% or 0.38 to 3.49.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.40% or 0.16 to $39.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.45% or 0.19 to hit $41.75 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.63% or 7.80 to trade at $1251.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 32.379, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2004.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 94.06.
