Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Rubber, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Electronic Products Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Microtek Intl (TW:2305), which rose 10.00% or 0.77 points to trade at 8.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) added 7.71% or 0.73 points to end at 10.20 and Apt (TW:3682) was up 7.61% or 0.75 points to 10.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.86% or 0.21 points to trade at 1.92 at the close. China Tv (TW:9928) declined 9.72% or 0.70 points to end at 6.50 and Aoc (TW:6289) was down 9.01% or 0.10 points to 1.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 415 to 326 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in China Tv (TW:9928) fell to all time lows; losing 9.72% or 0.70 to 6.50.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.23% or 0.11 to $48.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $49.35 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.90 to trade at $1275.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 32.646, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1996.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.78.
