Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Plastic and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.18% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Coaster International Co Ltd (TW:2936), which rose 10.00% or 3.90 points to trade at 42.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Genius (TW:3406) added 9.89% or 9.00 points to end at 100.00 and Tpcc (TW:4725) was up 9.78% or 1.80 points to 20.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.84% or 0.18 points to trade at 1.65 at the close. Jinli (TW:8429) declined 8.31% or 3.55 points to end at 39.15 and Enlight Corp (TW:2438) was down 5.56% or 0.60 points to 10.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 380 to 379 and 115 ended unchanged.

Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.89% or 9.00 to 100.00. Shares in Tpcc (TW:4725) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.78% or 1.80 to 20.20.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.71% or 0.36 to $51.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.35% or 0.19 to hit $54.08 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.15 to trade at $1171.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.26% to 31.833, while TWD/CNY rose 0.37% to 0.2146.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 101.15.
